About Nicole:

From a young age, I have always been active. In high school, while all my friends were still sleeping, I would go for long runs or a 30-mile adventure along the beach on my roller skates.

After high school, my original plan was to become a veterinarian specializing in equine medicine because of my love for horses and competitive riding. But at the end of my undergraduate studies, I realized that it was not my true calling. Later, while working towards my bachelor's degree, I got a job at GNC and became passionate about fitness and nutrition. I was struck by how fascinating the human body is and what it’s capable of. During this time, over 20 years ago, I found the low carb/ketogenic lifestyle and never looked back. My body and my health went through an instant transformation. I was leaner and stronger, demonstrating more focus while studying. Soon, I was spending my shifts at GNC educating customers about diet, exercise, and supplements, and, when I didn’t have any customers, I did lunges around the store holding protein powder jugs… yes, I was addicted to how good fitness felt!

After completing my bachelor’s degree in Pre-Veterinary Science at Cal Poly Pomona and deciding I was not going to be a veterinarian, I moved back to my hometown and began my first “adult job” in the aircraft leasing field. It quickly became apparent that this was not my life purpose’s either, so, even though I was making great money, I quit. I took a job in a cardiologist’s office doing back-office work and applied to nursing school. Soon, I realized that nothing in my life until that point had been more challenging or rewarding than studying to be an RN. In my last year of nursing school, I began to work as an Emergency Room Tech for one of the largest trauma centers in Los Angeles; this quickly turned into a love for trauma nursing. In time, I also received my MICN (Mobile Intensive Care Nurse) certificate to take paramedic calls. I thought for sure that this was it: I would never leave the high-intensity, adrenaline rush of a job that was trauma nursing. Then again, the only thing certain in life is change.

With the birth of my daughter in 2011, life in the ER became a lot trickier. Juggling childcare with my schedule, as well as the lack of sleep from being both a mom and a nurse working long hours, was not easy. Then, just as I was becoming accustomed to everything, I was thrown another curve ball when my mom suffered a serious ischemic stroke and I had to take leave to be with her in the hospital. I spent every day there for a month, trying to make sure that the nurses and doctors were giving her all the care she needed. Unfortunately, all that focus turned to saying goodbye and ensuring that her passing was as comfortable as possible.

Life quickly changed, and although I tried to go back to trauma nursing, my heart wasn’t in it anymore, and I had to move on. Questions arose in my mind, and again, I felt that nagging drive inside of me: my love for preventative medicine, nutrition, fitness, and alternative healing.

I began taking Holistic Health Practitioner Certificate courses, but found I just couldn’t commit with a young daughter to care for and a full-time job. Then, I took a job as a Palliative Care Nurse Coordinator with the very team that had helped my mom in her transition. This revealed a renewed sense of purpose. I enjoyed helping families have difficult conversations about advance directives and end-of-life care, as well as just getting to know them and finding out more about their loved ones and what they would want if they were unable to speak for themselves. This allowed me to become an advocate for my patients as they transitioned from this life. During this time, I kept finding myself drifting back to research on the human body and alternative ways to heal. Being face-to-face with death on a daily basis gave me the desire to help others live their best lives, so I decided it was time to once again move on—and move on we did.

I was blessed to be able to stay home and care for babies 2 and 3 while my husband Gail worked hard at his chiropractic office in California. With each pregnancy I gained 60 lbs., but, because of my knowledge and experience, I was able to bring my body back to a healthy weight quickly each time. My last two pregnancies ignited a desire in me to help people both find and maintain a healthy weight, as well as address the metabolic damage to their bodies by teaching them how to change their nutrition and, in turn, their lifestyles.

Fast-forward three years and we found ourselves seeking freedom for our whole family. We moved to Idaho in September of 2020 and have never looked back. Here, we opened Eagle Freedom Chiropractic. During the first year, I stayed focused on our kids and growing our office until I knew it was time to turn my love of nutrition and disease prevention into a career. I went back to work and finished up my Holistic Healthcare Practitioner Certificate, which includes Certified Nutrition Consultant, Certified Aromatherapist and Certified Master Herbalist. Now, I have also received certificates in Keto Coaching, Carnivore Coaching, and Supplement Coaching, and am a Certified Health and Wellness Nurse Coach as well.

I am also a licensed RN in California and Idaho.
